37 Weeks - Tuesday, September 29, 2015

Apparently  according to Ovia, I'm full term now. I put in my 2 weeks for work yesterday too. So, my last day is on the 16th. WAHOO! That's 4 days before the actual due date. We'll see how bored I get.  Who knows, maybe he'll surprise us and come early. I talked to my mom and she said that 4 out of 6 of her babies came like 10 days early.  The 2 that didn't come early were her first 2. Also,  my sister had 2 of 3 of her babies like a week early. The one that wasn't early was induced about a week early..and it was her first pregnancy.  So there's a chance, but I'm guessing not because it's my first. But hey, we can dream! I've had the hardest time trying to organize all the baby stuff. Holy cow, this boy has TONS on clothes! Haha! I caved and got a dresser recently and it's a START.  I still have all the other supplies and gadgets to figure out.  I start my weekly appointments this week.  It's winding down so fast I can't even believe it's been almost 9 months.

36 weeks - Tuesday, Septemeber 22, 2015

One more month!  The ultrasound went well this last week. To compare to before.. the last one showed that he was about 2.5 weeks bigger than where he should be. This time, 3 days bigger. So, I guess he was just going through a growth spirt. I don't really understand how they can tell the difference between 3 days, but hey! He is also over 6lbs at this point. I've read that babies typically add about 1/2lb per week at this point. So, we'll probably have an at least 8lb baby. They only wanted to keep him under 9lbs, so we'll see how far he pushes the limit. They also said my blood sugar has been good and to keep doing what I've been doing. His belly was a little plump, but not anything to worry about. I did find out that I'll have another ultrasound at 38 weeks to see how he's grown as well. So that's exciting! I think I have started to feel some slight braxton hicks contractions, but only like once per day. My feet like to swell up (hence the picture) and occasionally I get some nice kankles. I'm still having appointments every 2 weeks. This next one will be the last one. After that, it'll be every week.

35 weeks - Tuesday, September 15, 2015

5 more weeks! My body is actually starting to feel it at this point. Nothing too drastic, but the occasional swollen, sore feet..I feel hot all the time.. you know, the good stuff! Still have less energy than usual, but I'm getting use to it.
The baby shower was this last weekend. I am so grateful for all the people who came and showed their support for us in this exciting time of our lives! It was a good turnout and super helpful. Now I can finally start buying things to prepare. I have been holding off till after the shower because I wasn't sure what would be provided. So we prettymuch just have the carseat left and then little odds and ends to get that we NEED before the baby arrives.
I have another ultrasound this week, so that's exciting! Adam is trying to save  up his PTO for after the birth. So he's not coming to this one, but my parents are planning on it. So that will be fun! I'm  pretty sure this is the last ultrasound too..unless something goes wrong, but we're not planning for that!
I keep debating whether or not I should  schedule a day to be my last day at work or not.. or just work till the baby is HERE. The ultrasound will make it hopefully an easier decision. My main thing was just being prepared. I didn't want to go into labor somewhere at work  (even though Adam does work with me and would be there to help)but I just don't know what to expect. I haven't done any preparation at all so I almost feel like I should need to have that time to prepare. But then I know that for me personally, I will get so antsy and bored if I have too much time off beforehand. So many decisions. I'll  keep the updates coming!

34 weeks - Tuesday, September 8, 2015

The baby shower is coming up so that's exciting! I feel like that is going to make things seem more real when we have all the supplies ready for him to get here.  I haven't started planning a hospital bag because of that so once we have everything in order it will definitely be weird that we're just waiting around basically.  Something that I've noticed recently is I can't go into public without someone saying congratulations just by seeing my belly. Not only that,  but everyone is always surprised about how far along I am.. that I look small?  I've even had people tell me that I haven't looked pregnant till recently.  What the heck?  Haha I have felt huge for so long..and I can't see how that's a normal figure for a non-pregnant woman.

Yesterday was labor day so I had the day off from work.  So what did I do?  Turn into a grandma and crochet this babe a beanie for Halloween.  I actually tried to crochet some shoes but the shoes turned out pretty ugly, so no pictures of that.  You're welcome. The beanie is actually for our Halloween costumes. We will see how it all comes together. I had a hard time finding a newborn size black beanie so I just decided to make one.

33 weeks - Tuesday, September 1, 2015

7 more weeks! I had my second appointment with the GD place yesterday. They had told me at the first appointment a couple weeks ago that I would be getting multiple ultrasounds so I took that meaning that we would do it every time. Welp, that's not the case. I went in this time and they tested my blood, asked  me how things are going, and basically went over my recordings for the past 2 weeks on my blood scores as well as what I've been eating. Basically from  my point of view from the first appointment there, I was told how many grams of carbs I should be eating per meal or snack. Me, knowing that carbs are hidden within EVERYTHING, tried to cut out mostly all carbs. So, no more burritos, tacos, sandwhiches, etc. (Ya, I may as well be mexican with my food preferences). So often times when testing my blood in the mornings, I would be WAY below 90. They want me below 90, but some of them were as low as the 60s and that's too low apparently. We eat dinner kind of late in the evening.. like around 7 on average. Then, we go to bed at like 9 so there isn't much time for snacking between dinner & sleeping for the night. So when I am without food from 9pm-7am, it was making my blood sugar go super low. So anyway, They basically told me that in order to fix that, I would need to balance out the carbs throughout the earlier parts of the day. They encouraged me to eat healthy carbs (wheat, not white bread) and about 1 cup per meal. I also tried to cut out a lot of fruit out of my diet because of all the natural sugars. They encouraged me to have fruit for snacks in between meals, but most definitely not for breakfast. Apparently the morning is when my blood is most sensative because of the long period of time while sleeping that I'm not eating. So ya, no fruit till after 10am. Balance is key.

I have another ultrasound in 2 weeks. That is for sure. They didn't specifically tell me that was going to happen for yesterdays appointment, but did for the next one! That would be the last ultrasound unless we run into something crazy.
After the GD appointment, I had my regular OB appointment and everything is going well. I did have a couple questions that I wanted to ask.
1. Why was the last ultrasound telling me that the baby is over 2 weeks larger than he should be.. but when I go into the OB, they tell me I'm right on track?
-They told me that ultrasounds are not exact measurements. They are about within 2 weeks of accuracy.
2. The GD place said that they wanted to keep the baby under 9lbs.. so if the ultrasound is off by 2 weeks, then how do they know?
-She said that they really don't KNOW. She shared an example of a separate situation where the baby was getting large and they told her that the baby was going to be a 10lb baby.. so they induced. The baby ended up being 7lbs. I'm not sure how early they induced, but still.. 3lbs is a BIG difference. She said that since the ultrasounds are within about 2 weeks of accuracy, that they are really shooting for keeping the baby under 11lbs.. not 9lbs. So you can imagine how uneasy that makes me feel! Eeesh, I hope we're good and dont have a 10lb baby.. that would be crazy. It honestly isn't out of the question though because both me & Adam have siblings who were born over 9lbs. I'm pretty sure my dad was over 10lbs. YIKES.

I have started experimenting with different recipes to try to stay within my carb intake. One recipe I tried was these cream cheese pancakes.
I was actually really surprised how good they were! The only thing I didn't like was the syrup that I used. It was a "sugar free" syrup that had a low carb count.. sweetened with splenda. I've never really cared for splenda. My parents have used it on their diets and I have always thought it left weird taste to everything it touched.  Anyway, the actual pancakes were actually pretty good. I would say that the texture is more crepe like than pancake. That's only because they were so thin and eggy. The fact that its made with half cream cheese made me excited to try the recipe. I might be a fatty at heart, but cream cheese makes everything great.. it's a fact.

Eggs & I have a love/hate relationship. I have the hardest time trying to think of breakfast meals that I can make before work every morning that follow my diet. Eggs are quick and healthy, so they are normally my go-to along with some low carb wheat bread toast loaded up with butter, salt & pepper. I don't have time to whip up pancakes every morning. So if you have any ideas please feel free to comment below! I'm definitely up to try new things at this point.

You can't really tell in this picture, but it's eggs, beans, and avocado. If you haven't tried it, you need to. I make my beans by mixing in cream cheese, sour cream, and regular cheese.. sometimes some cayenne pepper to make it a little spicy.

Lunch time has been fairly easy. Most places you go, you can replace things with other items in order to lower your carb intake. So I haven't felt like that's been a challenge yet. Dinner on the other hand is more fun because I have to actually cook these meals that I'm not as familliar with. Mexican food is so easy for me to "wing it" and just make up.. but there is a lot of carbs in most of that. And holy heartburn! It's happening right now just thinking about it. Snacks haven't been too hard either. I normally just pack a large carrot, yogurt, or whatever I can grab from the fridge in the mornings. Today I have a carrot, yogurt, and a tangelo. I don't know if I just picked out good tangelos this time or my body just really likes them..but hot dang they are good! Got them at Fry's on saturday.

As far as non-diet topics go with this pregnancy, all is well! There's not a whole lot of craziness going on because I've felt actually really good and have had a really easy pregnancy so far which I'm grateful for. Something I have noticed is that my skin has been clearer for the most part! It might also be that I have switched my foundation routine and so I don't want to touch my face as much throughout the day, but hey.. I'll take it.
