I can't even believe that Damon is 1 month old already. Sometimes I think I'm in denial that I even have a baby and am a mother. It's pretty surreal. The first month has been pretty laid back. I'm still getting the hang of things and so therefore I spend a lot of time sitting around holding him. I wouldn't change it for anything though. It's time that I'll never have again and I'm happy that I'm his mommy. That way he will like me no matter what. Haha ;)
Some highlights about his first month..
•I love so the different faces he pulls. It's one of my favorite things to do- watch and laugh at him because all I can do is imagine an adult making the faces he does and it's halarious.
•He is already so strong. It has been surprising how much he is progressing. Maybe I just never knew how quickly it happens with babies, but he seems to be ahead of the game. He loves to stretch his head in every direction and even holds it up by himself while he's being burped. He loves to kick his legs especially when he's trying to work out a poop. He will push against me while I hold him and support his own weight a little bit at a time. I always joke that he will be walking before he can hold his head up and end up looking like a zombie as a result.
• He loves to make grunting noises. Especially while he's trying to wake up. He's not a fussy baby as far as I can tell. He is a good baby for me.
• As far as sleeping goes..he is inconsistent on how long he sleeps. Sometimes it's less than 2 hours.. and sometimes it's over 4 hours at a time. We're still trying to figure out why and see if we can get more of those 4 hour naps. He sleeps really well if I'm holding him. He's not a fan of sleeping by himself in his bed or even next to me on mine. If I time it right when he falls asleep on me, I can transfer him over to his bed so I can get some decent sleep. It's about a 50% chance he'll just wake up when I do. Working on that.
He has his 1 month appointment tomorrow. The last time we weighed him, he was 10lbs.. So he's put on some weight. He definitely loves to eat so I'm not surprised. I took me first drive in the car without someone there with us last night. We went to my neice, Kaydences birthday party. It's like a 5 minute drive. It's progress though. Maybe one day I'll go to the store by ourselves.
Anyway, we're both doing well and staying halfway sane..so life's good.
