I got the results back for the glucose test and I failed. I went back for the secondary test which sucked. The sugar drink they have me was 2x the potency. I wasn't a fan of that. I would drink that all day if it meant I could skip out on the actual blood withdrawl though. They ended up poking me 6 times. 6 times!! 1 is already too much for me. Bahaha! It was meant to be 4, but they had trouble getting the vein a couple times. They ended up using my hand for it all. Being early in the morning, my veins were FLAT. Anyway, ya so I failed the secondary testing. That means I have gestational diabetes. Sounds scary..and I don't know how it will be since I just found out yesterday, but from what I know, I'm in for a treat. My doctor kind of went over a summary of what to expect and said basically they'll send me to a specialist who will tell me how to eat and how to test my blood sugar. Ya, I get to do the finger prick every day..4x a day. So THAT will be fun. If I can't keep my blood sugar in order by just exercise and dieting, then they would put me on medication. So hopefully I can get by without doing that, but I will keep the updates coming. I still need to call the company back to schedule the specialist appointment. As far as the baby goes, it's common that the baby could grow bigger faster so they will be monitoring his size a lot more to make sure we don't get too big. Possibly some more ultrasounds too! If he does grow too big, then we may get induced or have him early. I'm guessing that all depends on how my body handles the treatment. I wasn't all that surprised that I have GD because my family has a history of diabetes. I have never had problems with it before, but that may be why I do now. I read that 2-10% of pregnancies are GD. I don't feel like I eat BADLY, but could be better. I definitely could exercise. I don't get any exercise right now. With work being a desk job and then coming home.. I just want to be lazy. And it's too bloody hot outside to do anything outside. Before the pregnancy, I would battle it out and ride the horse, but obviously haven't been riding now. Some of the things I have already been doing to eat as healthy as I can (even before the DG diagnosis) aren't really big things, but I do what I can. For example.. getting a bowl instead of a burrito at chipotle... getting wheat bread instead of white.. getting brown rice (or no rice) instead of white rice.. etc. I was already eating breakfast every morning.. and a pretty healthy breakfast too, I must say! I would usually have a smoothie of some variation. Usually berries, banana, and spinach. The week up until the secondary glucose test, I cut out ALL sugar and carbs. That included healthy sugars. So, no fruit either. Let me tell you.. it was HARD. I am praying that whatever eating plan they tell me at the appointment is easier than that was because I was miserable. I'm sure it takes some getting use to. Also, the fact that I didn't exercise really at all didn't help to balance everything out. I was going on walks.. but not super often or for long amounts of time. Usually a 5-10 min walk 3-4 times a week maybe? It wasn't the best it could have been, but at the same time- I didn't want to overwhelm my body. So anyways, I'm in for some changes ahead. I'll be sure to update on what my meal ideas are, exercise routines, and all that fun stuff.. just incase there is anyone reading this that has GD as well.

29 weeks - Tuesday, August 4, 2015
So far the third trimester hasn't been all that different feeling. This baby
does love my ribs though! I will say that! Its kind of weird though because my
doctor told me that my torso is really long and I have a good 1-2 inches longer
in length than most. All I have to say is I feel BAD for short pregnant
people.

I got the results back for the glucose test and I failed. I went back for the secondary test which sucked. The sugar drink they have me was 2x the potency. I wasn't a fan of that.
