First Appointment - Wednesday, March 25, 2015

9 weeks 6 days along.

Today was the very first pregnancy doctors appointment. It's becoming more real and real with each big change. They started the appointment by going over family medical history, health do's and don'ts, and an overview of the next few appointments. So I wasn't able to find a time/day that would work for scheduling with Dr. Newmann, so it was with the PA, Lockwood. She seemed to be very confident and well educated. I felt confident in her filling in for Dr. Newman. She also gave me a pelvic exam to make sure everything felt right as far as how far along I am and if there were any noticeable abnormalities or anything to be worried about. She did a breast exam too. These types of  exams don't really even phase me anymore. After all the UTI appointments, I just don't even care anymore. Everything she examined was regular and normal. They also did a heart beat scan so that we could hear, but not see. It was so crazy to hear that little heart pumping away so fast and loud! I think it caught me and Adam both by surprise. I didn't realize that they would take a blood sample. And if you know me very well, you know I don't do well with needles. (I know, I'll get over it), but anyway, so they took a pap sample, urine sample, and then I was sent next door to the lab place where they would take my blood. It was in the morning. I had not eated breakfast yet and had hardly any water so my veins were FLAT. They poked around in both arms and were not able to find a vein. Haha so I'm going to have to come back in a few days to get that portion done. DANG IT. My next appointment with the doctor is in 4 weeks. One thing that I thought was interesting was that the doctor let me know that there is a test available now that is a blood test that can determine the sex of the baby as early on as I am now- almost 10 weeks. (I will be 10 weeks tomorrow). So that's pretty crazy and cool that it's an option. I'm not sure what we're going to do yet, but I'll be sure to update with any changes. Cravings have stayed the same. I get tired of food really quickly. I'll start eating something and half way through, not want it anymore. Good times.
